ABERYSTWYTH TIMES IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE CREATION OF A NEW FASHION SPECIFIC EDITORIAL GROUP. THE GROUP IS NOW OPEN FOR MODELS, DESIGNERS AND VENDORS TO JOIN IN AND PARTICIPATE IN A REVOLUTIONARY ERA OF SUSTAINABLE GRASSROOTS FASHION.

Aberystwyth Times aggregates local news as well as creating new content. When we aggregate, we delete the spin and introduce the omitted facts. We call this “unspin”.

Part of a newspaper is photography and modelling. Corporate newspapers use professional models in an unfair, non-representative way. We take the press release of a local fashion or perfume outlet, delete their images and replace them with our own.

Here is a concept video we made to demonstrate this and to promote our model

This means that we are able to work towards things like proportionate representation of natural and realistic body types and of minority members of our community. For example, in a mainstream newspaper there are professional models. They all tend to look the same, like mannequins.

But in Aberystwyth, as elsewhere, people look all different. Maybe 1 in 1000 people uses a wheelchair for example.

So at abertimes.co.uk we aim to take a press release or aggregated article, delete some of the pictures and make sure that 1 in 1000 of our photographs features a model in a wheelchair.

We also work to raise awareness of sustainable upcycled local businesses, advantages of using Hemp etc. and raise awareness of sweat shops etc. We work to challenge gender policed norms in the world of fashion. And we support business models like this one https://www.thewildlifestyle.com/pages/about-us that offset some of the costs of the fashion world by donating to wildlife charities or gender identity charities.

In addition we aim to facilitate the voice of the community. If you wish to write articles and features, fashion related or otherwise, please feel free to message us, email us on reporter@abertimes.co.uk or best of all, why not join our editorial group directly.

And please, invite or add any people or friends that you feel might be interested in fashion and joining this area of the Aberystwyth Times community.

UPDATE: The Cambrian News in its latest act of lashing out at the threat it believes our grassroots approach represents, has stooped so low as to lie to Facebook and some of our groups features are currently disabled.

We are working tirelessly to expose this corruption and put our group back on track.

Thanks for all your support recently!
