THREE months after thieves smashed their way into Aberystwyth Town Football Club’s bar and made off with “everything they could get their hands on”, police have still not charged anyone with the crime.

The Cambrian News reported “But it’s business as usual for the couple who lease and run the food and drink operation.

Back in January, Phil and Ruth Thomas told how they were left feeling “sick” after intruders ransacked the place before making off with hundreds of pounds worth of stock in the couple’s car.

The vehicle was later found after it was “wrapped around a tree” near Wrexham, with broken alcohol bottles strewn across the back seat.

Dyfed-Powys Police subsequently revealed that a 29-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of burglary and aggravated vehicle-taking, while a 47-year-old man was being held on suspicion of burglary.

Both were released while investigations continued and Mrs Thomas said last week she understood that no charges had yet been brought.

“Phil and I have just been getting on with it – at least the car was covered by insurance,” she told the Cambrian News.

“All the club members were very sorry to hear about it – it was a big talking point at the time as you can imagine. We are now trying to get trigger alarms installed in here to up the security levels.”

Police said the investigation was still ongoing” here.
