PLANS for high-tech touchscreen tourism signs in Aberystwyth have been approved.

The Cambrian News reported “Advancing Aberystwyth Ar y Blaen, the group behind the Business Improvement District in Aberystwyth, will install three 55-inch digital touchscreen tourism kiosks in the town as part of its work to promote the town and its businesses.

The group has been given permission to put the high-tech signs made of galvanised steel and laminated safety glass on Owain Glyndwr Square, at the front of Aberystwyth station on Alexandra Road, and opposite numbers 64 and 66 Terrace Road by the former Kings Hall.

Support for the signs has been granted by planning officers subject to conditions.

The group has secured for funding from the Welsh Government’s Tourism Amenity Investment Scheme, and installation work is currently being scheduled.

The signs will contain interactive What’s On and attractions guide for tourists, as well as a business directory” here.
