A grand total of 26 local good causes have been chosen to benefit from more than £7,000 raised through the 2018 Cambrian News Charity Aberystwyth 10k.
Cambrian News reported “Applications were invited for a share of the £7,343.87 raised as proceeds from the race held at the beginning of December.
The Cambrian News is the main sponsor of the race, which is organised by Aberystwyth Athletics Club and Carl Williams.
The race raises thousands of pounds for charities each year and thousands of pounds of sponsorship is also raised by runners, who donate their money direct to the charities of their choice.
The successful applicants this year are as follows: Bronglais Hospital Chemotherapy Unit, £2,000; HAHAV, £450; St John Aberystwyth Division, £300; Ceredigion Federation of WIs, £200; Cllr Paul James for Dyfi Ward Cardiac Monitoring Unit, £200; Borth Arts Group, £200; Radio Bronglais, £200; Aberystwyth Air Cadets, £200; Aberystwyth Parkinson’s Group, £200; PATRASA, £200; Aberystwyth Choral Society, £200; Penrhyncoch FC Junior Section, £200; HAUL, £200; Aberystwyth and District Stroke Club, £200; Aberystwyth 50+ Forum, £200; Aberystwyth Surf Lifesaving Club, £200; Age Cymru Ceredigon, £200; R S Thomas Literary Festival and Poetry Competition, £200; Aberystwyth branch of Blood Bikes Wales, £200; Disability Arts Cymru West Wales, £200; Aber Kayakers, £200; Second Penparcau Scout Group, £200; Aberystwyth Shop Mobility Scheme, £200; Aberystwyth District Amateur Swimming Club, £200; Hywel Dda Health Charities for Enlli Ward sensory garden, £200; Aberystwyth Silver Band, £193.87.
