A charity is using archaeology to help people with mental health problems.

The BBC reported “Mind Aberystwyth is building on work by Mind and Operation Nightingale to record details of war memorials in the town and surrounding villages to help preserve and maintain them.

It hopes the project, broadly coinciding with the centenary of World War One, will provide good experiences for people with mental health problems.

It has been funded by a £5,500 Heritage Lottery Fund grant.

Mind Aberystwyth chief executive Fiona Aldred said: “There is a growing body of evidence which shows how projects like these can promote wellbeing and assist recovery, and we hope our own project will add to that.”

The project begins later this month and runs until 25 March” here.
