A Machynlleth man slapped and spat at his ex-girlfriend after forcing his way into her Aberystwyth home, magistrates have heard.
Cambrian News reported “Robert Sam Jones, 28, admitted assaulting Madelaine Bride and criminal damage to a pane of glass at her home during an incident on 24 August when Jones turned up drunk.
He has been remanded in custody ahead of being sentenced on 13 December.
Prosecutor Helen Tench said Jones, of 35 Cae Bryn, had been in a short relationship with Ms Bride but it ended.
Ms Tench said the break-up was initially amicable but on 24 August Jones turned up at her home drunk and became aggressive and forced his way into her flat.
Jones, who was with another woman, pushed Ms Bride onto the bed and spat in her face.
When Ms Bride asked the other woman to get Jones out of the flat, Ms Tench said Jones made a threat to the other woman and she left.
Jones started pacing around the flat and was shouting before he slapped Ms Bride’s face.
Jones also headbutted a window causing damage, the court heard.
Defence solicitor Alison Mathias said that while Jones doesn’t accept all of the prosecution evidence, he accepts that he did assault Ms Bride.
Ms Mathias said while Jones has a lengthy list of previous convictions, he had been out of trouble for a long period before the offence.
Magistrates said they wanted a report before deciding how to sentence Jones.
He was remanded in custody until a videolink hearing which will be held on 13 December” here.
