Despite an enthusiastic attempt by Aberystwyth they were narrowly beaten 17-13 at home to Llanelli wanderers on Tuesday’s sunny afternoon at Plas Crag grounds.
Both teams are due credit for a tough performance in the Division One West encounter and the result was uncertain right up to the final moments of the match.
The Wanderers began the game full with full focus, forcing the Aber front row to stand up in the first scrum and then No. 10 Jonny George kicked the penalty award- opening the scoring.
After the interval Aberystwyth began to win more possession and spent the remainder of the game putting real pressure on the Wanderers but could not score the try that was needed.
No injury time was given after the whistle and Aberystwyth centre Mathew Hughes got Man of the Match for some firm evasive running and powerful line kicking.
