ABERYSTWYTH Times has obtained an accidentally leaked recording of an English-language meeting held between Ceredigion MP, Ben Lake, and senior managers at Ceredigion County Council.
The meeting, held at Canolfan Rheidol on the 29th March at 15.30, was recorded by a participant who had intended to make a transcription for their personal use whilst the official minutes recorded by Ceredigion County Council and the MP were being prepared for release.
Discussing certain aspects of the meeting with an Aberystwyth Journalist, the participant had recourse to check the recording to confirm a set of facts relating to the #metoo movement. It was at this point that the journalist heard what seemed to be a conversation going on quietly in the background between Ben Lake and an unknown individual.
As our journalist had been recording the interview a copy of the original recording was accidentally obtained and subjected to digital enhancement and analysis.
We can now reveal that our monitors had heard Ben Lake referring to Dyfed Powys Police Chief Constable, Mark Collins, as a “slavedriver, murderer, and doublecrosser.”
Both Ben Lake and Mark Collins have been contacted for comment on the assertion along with requests for further information about the background behind these suggestions. Both have yet to respond.
