ABERYSTWYTH Town will begin their new 2018/19 JD Welsh Premier League campaign with two home fixtures.

The Cambrian News reported “The official fixture list was released last Wednesday, and Aber will start their campaign against Llandudno at Park Avenue on Friday, 10 August.

They will then take on Cardiff Met in front of the live television cameras, again at home on Friday, 17 August.

Aber’s first away game sees them travel to the Deeside Stadium to face last year’s Welsh Cup winners Connah’s Quay, followed by newly-promoted Llanelli Town at home on Friday, 31 August.

The Seasiders will travel to play champions The New Saints away on Tuesday, 11 September. The first home fixture on a Saturday is against Bala Town at Park Avenue on 15 September.

Meanwhile the festive period will see Aber face Mid-Wales rivals Newtown in a double-header, at Park Avenue on Boxing Day, and away on 30 December.

The Seasiders have returned to training and assistant boss Wayne Jones reported on a “good effort from the players and trailists in very warm conditions.”

Aber were due to get their pre-season friendlies under way at home to Welsh League (Wrexham Area) side Brickfield Rangers on Saturday, but the club has confirmed that their opposition has pulled out.

“We regret to announce that our prospective opponents for Saturday’s friendly have informed us that they are now unable to fulfil the fixture and the match will not take place,” said a club statement.

“The Club apologises for any inconvenience caused to supporters by this late cancellation.”

The Seasiders’ first friendly will be a home work-out against Evo Stick League outfit Halesowen Town on Saturday, 21 July.

Two pre-season matches away from home will follow at Welsh League (South) runners-up Haverfordwest County and Neston from the Cheshire League, before the big Welsh Premier League kick-off on Friday, 10 August” here.
