A CHARITY fundraiser has visited Aberystwyth’s Bronglais Hospital as part of a 1,000-mile endurance walk around mid and south Wales and south-west England.

The Cambrian News reported “Natalia Spencer is taking on the challenge as part of her Elizabeth’s Footprint fundraising efforts to raise money for Bristol Children’s Hospital Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, the unit that cared for her young daughter Elizabeth, who sadly passed away in 2015.

As part of her third Walk of Love, Natalia is visiting the 23 hospitals across 70 days in the catchment area for the ICU where five-year-old Elizabeth received treatment, including Bronglais.

She was met by Paul Harries, a health play specialist at Bronglais, to complete the walk into Aberystwyth.

A special reception was held for Natalia, who has set herself a fundraising target of £1 million and has already raised over £225,000 during her latest fundraising effort.

Natalia started the latest walk on Mother’s Day and is aiming to finish at the Bristol hospital on 29 May, which would have been Elizabeth’s eighth birthday.

Natalia said the help she had been offered on her lengthy route had helped her keep going to raise the desperately needed money.

She said: “This walk is so much tougher than I expected. I am walking so many miles on hard roads and it’s difficult without the sea to guide me.

“It is a daily reminder of what a large area is covered by Bristol Children’s Hospital.

“It makes me more determined to keep going as I know how much the funds are needed.

“I am touched every day by the kindness of strangers. It really keeps me going.

“I hope that the people of Aberystwyth will follow my walk and help support my efforts.”
