TRIBUTES have been paid to a well-known Aberystwyth football manager and father-of-five after he was found dead at a hotel in north Wales.
The Cambrian News reported “The body of Terry Davies, who guided Bont FC as manager to a league title last year, was found at the St David’s Park Hotel in Ewloe on Tuesday, 30 January.
Police said his death is not being treated as suspicious.
Mr Davies, a father-of-five and a former pupil at Ysgol Penweddig, joined Bont FC three years ago, and the club’s chairman Richard Jones said the club has been left “heartbroken” by his death.
“As a club, Bont FC are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our manager Terry Davies,” Mr Jones said. “The players are heartbroken that he is no longer with us.
“We all from the bottom of our hearts thank him for everything he did, helping bring success back to the club. Our condolences are sent to the family at this difficult time.”
Aberystwyth Town, where Mr Davies was once a player and assistant manager for the club’s reserves, also paid tribute.
In a statement, the club said Mr Davies was “a great advocate and contributor to local junior league football for many years”.
Mr Davies, 42, was the father to five children, Dion, 18; Ben, 16; Erin, 14; Rory 11; and Mari, 9.
He also leaves behind his mum Shirley Davies, dad Byron Davies, brother Geoff Davies, and sisters Katie Davies and Lorna Davies.
Mr Davies’ funeral will be held on Saturday, 17 February, at Llanbadarn church.
There will be a public service followed by a private family ceremony at Aberystwyth crematorium.
A public celebration of his life will also be held at Aberystwyth Town Football Club.
