Cambrian News photographer - Aberystwyth Rotary Club handed out cheques – the proceeds of their Christmas collection – to representatives of local charities

FOLLOWING Aberystwyth Rotary Club’s Christmas collection, a presentation was held at the Richmond Hotel.

The Cambrian News reported “Donations to the value of £2,800 were given to representatives from HAHAV (Hospice at Home Aberystwyth Volunteers), DASH (Disabilities and Self Help) Ceredigion, the Aberystwyth group of the Alzheimer’s Society, Mind Aberystwyth, Aberystwyth and District Young Carers, and the Aber Stars pan-disability football team.

A further £400 will be used to support a Rotary ‘Kids Out’ day next summer for local children with disabilities and learning difficulties.

In addition, a donation of £320, the proceeds of a raffle held at the club’s charter night, was made to the Aberystwyth Sea Cadets.

In presenting the cheques, president Martin Davies expressed the club’s sincere thanks for the great generosity shown by local people in supporting the club’s Christmas collection once again this year.

The club was also grateful to conductor Glyn Jones and Côr Meibion Aberystwyth for singing so beautifully when the club was collecting at the Tesco store in Aberystwyth, and to both Morrison’s and Tesco for allowing the club to collect in their stores” here.
