ABERYSTWYTH Town Football Club have further strengthened their squad with three more players ahead of their new JD Welsh Premier League campaign.

Cambrian News reported “Former Bangor City and Rhyl striker Porya Ahmadi has joined the Seasiders, along with keeper Leigh Jenkins and striker Nashawn Blake from local Cymru Alliance club Penrhyncoch.

Iranian-born Porya Ahmadi was Bangor’s top goal scorer in the 2015/16 season – netting 8 goals in 29 appearances, having started his footballing career with Sheffield United’s Academy.

Porya, or ’Rio’ as he’s also known, also spent time playing for Chorley, Droylsden, New Mills, and most notably Salford City, where he scored hat-tricks in consecutive games in 2014.

Meanwhile Leigh Jenkins and Nashawn Blake have also joined the club from local Cymru Alliance outfit Penrhyncoch, and both players made significant contributions to Gari Lewis’ squad last season.

Jenkins has been the regular first-team goalkeeper at the Roosters since they were promoted into the Cymru Alliance. He was voted as Penrhyn’s Supporters’ Player of the Season in the past three seasons.

Blake is a pacey and energetic striker, who spent a brief spell with the Seasiders when he joined from Aberystwyth University back in 2016.

Aberystwyth fans will be able to see all three in action, along with fellow new signings Alec Williams and Paulo Mendes in Aber’s pre-season friendly at home to Halesowen Town this Saturday” here.
