A PENPARCAU woman has thanked supporters who helped raise money for Ovarian Cancer Action during a charity walk in memory of her mother.

The Cambrian News reported “Alicia Parry and a team of 22 people walked from Constitution Hill in Aberystwyth to Penparcau’s The Hub as part of the fundraising walk Alicia organised in memory of her mother Pauline, who sadly passed away from ovarian cancer in 2016.

Alicia said she had been keen to raise money for the charity as well as raise awareness of ovarian cancer.

She said the walk had been a success, and that although it is not yet known exactly how much was raised, £190 was collected during the walk itself.

Alicia said: “The walk went really well. There were 22 who took part.

“We collected £190 just on the walk.

“The Hub in Penparcau put a lovely spread on for us as we arrived back.

“We hope we raised as much awareness as possible.”

Alicia said it was important that people are aware of the symptoms of ovarian cancer after saying that her mother passed away just four days after being diagnosed after five months when she was unwell with stomach pain, backache, constipation and a bloated belly” here.
